Did you know, that this month is the Muslim festival of Ramadan? We caught up with our Care Assistant Maisha as she explains what it means to observe Ramadan.

Across the globe, millions of Muslims are taking part in the observation of Ramadan which involves a month of fasting.

Ramadan is the Arabic name for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar.

It is regarded one of the holiest Islamic months.

We spoke with Care Assistant Maisha, who, along with her family is taking part in Ramadan.

"Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us! First things first can you tell us your name and what’s you’re role within Bluebird Care?"

"Hey! No problem, my name is Maisha and I’m a Care Assistant for Bluebird Care Maidstone."

"Thanks Maisha, so what does it mean to be a Care Assistant?"

"Within my job role, I ensure that the needs of my customers are met and are done so effectively and in timely manner.

I create a professional bond with each of my customers and help them to feel comfortable and at ease in my presence. Furthermore, I assist my clients to reach their full potential in every aspect."

"Sounds like a really rewarding role!

I understand that you’re observing Ramadan, can you tell us a little bit more?"

"Ramadan is so special and the most blessed time of year for my family and I.

It is a time we can rekindle the history of our religion and spend time as a family to enjoy the blessed month together.

The month of Ramadan, takes a lot of dedication, courage and support, all of which Bluebird Care are assisting me with."

"It sounds like a wonderful opportunity to not only honour transitions, but also spend time with your family! What are some of the ways that those observing Ramadan can be supported during this time?"

"It is!

Well, I feel I’ve been supported by working more flexibly, for example, being able to go home to break my fast with my family and starting later on in the day to ensure I have plenty of rest whilst I am fasting.

The support from Bluebird Care has been vital and makes me feel valued and confident that they have my best interests at heart."

"That’s wonderful to hear!

Thanks so much Maisha, It’s great to learn more about you and your heritage and I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!"
