Launching Our 2019 Community Grant Scheme!

Published: 08/01/2019

Our grants have helped launch new schemes, maintain groups and prevent them closing as well as helping hundreds of people to enjoy some special time together. In 2019, we are relaunching our Community Grant Scheme with some new criteria and are delighted to announce that we will be awarding our grants of £250 throughout the year.

As our customers live in the community and this is where we provide care support, we strive to do as much as we can to make a difference in the areas that they live.

One way that we do this is through our Community Grant Scheme, which is where we make a number of grants available to local charity and community organisations throughout the year.

Since launched in 2016, we have given over £15,000 to local groups and know that this money has gone to make a tremendous difference.

Just a few groups we have provided finance to include Age UK Maidstone's Excercise & Socialise Group, Chiropody Service, Headway's Brain Injury Group and the Stroke Association.

Karen Kennedy, Scheme Manager for Age UK said of our grant for their excercise & socialise group:
The money that Bluebird Care Maidstone have given us allows us to continue to rent the hall where the sessions are held, as well as raising awareness of Exercise and Socialise through local advertising.

I know that there are many more people that would participate and enjoy this activity but they are unaware of it.
Our grants have helped launch new schemes, maintain groups and prevent them closing as well as helping hundreds of people to enjoy some special time together.

There are a tremendous number of excellent organisations that could benefit from the grant funding and 2018 saw a 100% increase in the number of applications we received.

In 2019, we are relaunching our Community Grant Scheme with some new criteria and are delighted to announce that we will be awarding our grants of £250 throughout the year.

Grants will be awarded in March, May, September and November with the application deadline for the March grant being 20th February.

Applications must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the grant:
  • Be based (and support people) in Maidstone
  • Primarily support those aged 60+
  • Not use the grant as part of a round of funding
A grant application form can be downloaded from here and for more information, please contact nathanbrown@bluebirdcare.co.uk.

Community Liaison Manager, Nathan explained:
Our Community Grant Scheme is extremely important and we have seen such an increase in applications over 2018 that we have revisited the criteria for our 2019 grants.

It is very positive to see the difference that the scheme makes to the lives of so many people, and throughout the year we will also be revisiting some schemes to see the difference that our grant has made!
