As part of Dementia Action Week we have a packed schedule of activities in our community and on 21 May, Community Liaison Nathan visited The Goodman Centre to deliver a Dementia Friends session to our local Rotary Club. Through our involvement with Dementia Friends in the community, we have made over 300 friends who now know a little more about dementia and how it is possible to live well with the disease.

The session was arranged by the Age UK team, whom Nathan also volunteers with on a personal basis and the session was very well received.

Nathan explained:
Our Dementia Friends sessions are becoming an invaluable support to those who attend because of the way that they give such practical advice to families and friends.

Everyone brings and shares their own experiences and ideas and I always get just as much out of the sessions as those who attend!

As well as being a very good way of supporting our community, the Dementia Friends sessions are great fun and an enjoyable way to spend the evening.
We provide specialist community and live in care services to support those living with dementia and you can find out more here.
