Customer Afternoon Tea

We are proud to have a programme of events for our customers throughout the year and the first event was an afternoon tea held in the Hilton Hotel, Bearsted.
We are proud to have a programme of events for our customers and the first event of the year was an afternoon tea held in the Hilton Hotel, Bearsted.Customers were sent invitations to a plush tea including sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea in the hotel restaurant. In total, we were joined by over 20 customers and staff for what was a lovely afternoon.
The tea gave customers a chance to share some quality time together and the history of Maidstone was a popular topic, with some fascinating memories being shared of a childhood dancing at the original Royal Star Arcade!
One customer, Ron, who served in the Navy during the war and then worked for KCC for over 40 years in finance (with 10 as Payroll Manager for over 50,000 employees!) explained:
I changed my usual arrangements to join the event and had a lovely afternoon. I am a fairly new customer and the food and company was great!
We were also joined by Joyce, for whom attending the event helped mark her 93rd birthday! Joyce was surprised by the Bluebird Care team who brought her a birthday cake and surprised her with a rendition of Happy Birthday!
Joyce explained:
I have had a lovely and fulfilling life - spending much of my younger years in the music halls in Maidstone!
The cake was a lovely surprise for my birthday, even though I did need a little help to blow out the candles!

Care Manager Mel, explained:
This event was really lovely and it was great to see customers having an enjoyable time together. Not only was the food great, but the atmosphere was really good too.
The events we organize for our customers are free of charge and something we feel is really important as we continue striving to go the extra mile for our customers.
I know that everyone who attended, including myself, had a really lovely time!
Our afternoon tea is the first of three main events for customers in 2018.
