Joe and his co-driver Chris successfully completed their 2CV challenge on 14th June 2015, having driven an amazing 1900 miles in total! They began their journey from St Stephens care home in Sandbach, Cheshire East on the 8th June, driving to Lands End in Cornwall then up to John o Groats in Scotland via Cheshire before returning home.

They received an amazing £2300 with 57 donations from a wide variety of sources to help raise awareness of Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA); a condition affecting Joe’s wife Susanne. The money raised will be shared between the Myrtle Ellis fund for continuous employment of their full time nurse and the St Stephens care home to help create a beautiful garden for the guests and visitors, Joe said:

Susanne loves flowers so this I think is very apt, she will love that her name and illness could create such a thing”.
Joe has been Susanne’s full time carer since her illness was diagnosed. As her health deteriorates her care needs increase. Of the Bluebird Care staff supporting Susanne in her home environment with daily care visits and with the help of St Stephens care home for respite breaks, Joe says “they take the strain off and put a smile back on my face!”

Joe is now looking for his next big challenge to continue raising funds and awareness of PCA.
