Once again we were delighted to join this annual event marking older people’s day at the Carlsberg suite of the Crewe Alexandra football stadium.

Older Peoples Day 17There were over 200 guests enjoying the entertainment provided by The Funky Choir who got everyone singing along, followed by a George Formby tribute by a very accomplished ukulele player! A traditional afternoon cream tea was served and bingo prizes on offer.

Director of Bluebird Care Macclesfield Joanna Lee, commented:

It is a privilege to be the principle sponsor of this important annual event brought together by the South Cheshire Pensioner’s Association (SCPA) to celebrate our older people. Great too to see how this event has grown over the years from its inception 5 years ago. That’s when we at Bluebird Care Macclesfield first started it off in Crewe as “Silver Sunday” with only around 30 attendees! Hugh Emerson, secretary of the SCPA and fellow committee members do a fantastic job year-on-year to make sure the event is well publicised and attended, reaching many who may feel socially isolated or lonely. I hope it continues to go from strength to strength with even better attendance next year!

Thank you to everyone that took part, what a great day to celebrate our community!
