Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch becomes one of the first in the UK to receive the GSF accreditation.

It is with great pleasure to announce that Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch has been awarded the Gold Standard Framework’s accreditation for palliative (end of life) care.

We are the first provider in the region to hold this coveted award, and remarkably, only three domiciliary providers across the entire UK held this prestigious accreditation in the last year.

To achieve the Gold Standard Framework, the team of care experts at Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch have demonstrated over a two-year period that we meet independent quality standards when it comes to supporting people in their last years of life.

The framework is an independent charity which has been running for over twenty-five years across all health and care settings and is a practical and evidence-based training and guidance programme for all those involved in end-of-life care.

Care assistants who receive the Gold Standard Framework accreditation offer the best possible care to people in their final years of life. This is the highest level of recognition for care providers, and it shows our commitment to excellence and compassion.

Our team of proud care experts attended an awards ceremony in Manchester on September 29th to collect their award and to meet other carers across the country who share their passion for care.

This framework means that our team at Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch can go above and beyond to support our customers to live as well as possible, for as long as possible, in their own homes. It also helps the local health system as it keeps people out of hospital when they could remain comfortably at home. Most importantly, when the time comes, the framework helps care assistants support customers during the end of their lives, to move on with dignity and respect.

The Suris, a local family whose brother received end-of-life care from Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch shared their reflections:

“The support and compassion you extended to my brother, Naveen, and our family during those challenging times will forever be etched in our hearts… your team’s work is immeasurable in its importance and impact.”

Martin Katongo and Charity Mwelwa, Directors of Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch said:

“We are so honoured to be able to support people and their families with truly compassionate care when they most need it, and we are so grateful to the whole team at Bluebird Care Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch for their commitment and excellence. Having this dedication recognised means the world.”
