Samaritans Awareness Month: Supporting Mental Wellbeing Across Lewisham

Samaritans Awareness Month: Supporting Mental Wellbeing Across Lewisham

Lewisham is home to people from many different backgrounds and cultures, making it one of London's most welcoming communities. Yet even in a busy borough, people can still feel alone.

Lewisham is home to people from many different backgrounds and cultures, making it one of London's most welcoming communities. Yet even in a busy borough, people can still feel alone.

Samaritans Awareness Month encourages us to slow down, notice the people around us and remember that listening is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

Life brings challenges for everyone. Caring for a loved one, living with a health condition or coping with changes at home can all affect our mental wellbeing.

At Bluebird Care Lewisham, we see every day how important human connection is. A familiar face, a warm conversation and knowing someone genuinely cares can help people feel supported through difficult times.

Everyone Deserves to Feel Heard

Many people hide how they're feeling because they don't want to worry others.

That's why taking the first step can matter so much.

A phone call to a relative, stopping for a chat with a neighbour or simply asking someone if they're okay can open the door to an important conversation.

Listening isn't about finding solutions. It's about making space for someone to talk.

Building Stronger Communities

Strong communities are built through kindness.

When we look out for one another, we help create places where people feel safe asking for support when they need it.

Whether you're spending time with family, supporting an older neighbour or volunteering locally, every act of kindness helps strengthen our community.

Where to Find Support

Samaritans is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you need someone to talk to, call 116 123, email jo@samaritans.org, or visit www.samaritans.org.

This Samaritans Awareness Month, let's continue making Lewisham a place where everyone feels listened to, respected and supported.
