On Saturday the 18th of June care manager Emily Ranoble and Bluebird Care Leeds North care worker Fiona Wilby hosted a stand at the Otley Carnival. This was an opportunity to get out into the community in which we work and talk to people about what Bluebird Care are all about. As well as offering information on our care services and employment opportunities, we also ran a bake off competition and sold a selection of cakes on the stall to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The day went really well, the sun shone and the rain stayed away. All of our delicious cakes sold out with over £40 being raised from these alone. We met some wonderful people, some of whom had either had experiences with Bluebird Care in the past, or who were thinking about care needs for the future, and it was nice to hear so many heart-warming stories as people shared their own experiences of Alzheimer’s and the impact it has had on their life. These stories were both sad and funny and really highlighted the need to support the Alzheimer’s Society at events like this.

A big thank you to everyone who came over and spoke to us, both young and old, your enthusiasm contributed to an excellent day.
