Lancaster Castle

Lancaster Castle is one of Lancashire's key historic landmarks. A medieval castle, built on a Roman site, it was used as a court and prison for hundreds of years and is now a major visitor attraction. Step through the impressive gate and explore the courtyard for free and visit Atkinson's café open daily and Lancashire Police Museum (Thursday and Friday only). Discover what lies behind its walls and delve further into its past on one of the regular paid guided tours operated by Lancashire County Museum Service. Lancaster Castle is owned by the serving monarch, HM King Charles III, through the Duchy of Lancaster and hosts regular events.

Williamsons Park

Williamson Park is a beautiful parkland not far from central Lancaster. Most famously know for being home to the stunning Grade 1 listed Ashton Memorial. Often referred to at the Taj Mahal of the North. Commissioned by Lancaster industrialist Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife Jessy, in 1909. As well as this must visit landmark the park is also home to the beautiful Butterfly House and a Mini Zoo (you can visit both for a small entry fee) Seasonally there a numerous event, from festivals to theatre.

Lancaster Cathedral

Lancaster Cathedral, also known as The Cathedral Church of St. Peter and Saint Peters Cathedral, is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival architecture designed by E.G Paley. Upgraded to cathedral status in 1925, it is constructed from light sandstone and has undergone continuous improvements over the years. Renowned for its soaring spire reaching a height of 240 feet, the cathedral features stunning structures and artwork.
