Personal Health Budgets

Published: 23/05/2014

As of now (May 2014) any resident of the borough of Islington who is in receipt of NHS continuing healthcare will have the right to request a personal health budget.

What this means is that whilst the NHS will continue to fund the treatment and management of long-term health conditions and disabilities, the individuals who receive the treatment will now have far greater choice of and control over the service they use.

This, in effect, will mean that individuals who receive the treatment will become purchasers in an open market. We strongly believe that this is fantastic news, as in our view by introducing the element of choice, it will lead to a better quality of services available.

We currently support a number of customers receiving direct payments (the equivalent council-funded initiative that has been in place for some time) and look forward to offering the same tailored, personalised, and flexible service to people receiving personal health budgets.

If you have any questions about personal health budgets, or direct payments, then please do not hesitate to give us a call in the office.
