Local homecare provider Bluebird Care Islington & Hackney is supporting World Health Day 2020. This special day aims to address a global health topic of great importance. This year, it highlights the current status and vital role which nurses and midwifes have in keeping the world healthy.

The WHO (World Health Organisation) states: “Quite simply, without nurses, there would be no response.” The WHO and its partners are issuing a series of recommendations in order to strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce and to make sure that everyone gets the healthcare that they need.

Health workers, including nurses, midwives and homecare workers are on the front line in the COVID-19 response. These caring individuals dedicate their lives to provide high-quality health care to the sick and the elderly and to mothers and children.

Michael Hackett, Director of Bluebird Care Islington & Hackney, commented:

“Our nurses, midwives, care workers and homecare workers are doing a truly amazing job during this Coronavirus crisis.

We need to help support them by following public health advice and by recognising the critical role they play in our lives.”
