Bluebird Care Hull & Beverley have recently launched a campaign to pressure the government into creating a social care worker register for England.

Please sign our petition and help ensure MPs set up a register to better protect adult social care users and improve professional standards.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already have them – there’s no excuse for there not to be one in England.

England is the only country in the UK where frontline social care workers and their managers are not required to register with a governing body.

The vast majority of care workers are unsung heroes but unfortunately good practice in the sector is often undermined by those looking to take advantage of the elderly, disabled or infirm.

Care providers operate in a highly regulated industry. It is remarkable that those working in the sector are not themselves regulated.

Not only would a register for those working in social care help to keep people safe but it would boost professional standards.
Adult social care service users in England deserve the same safeguards as their counterparts in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We demand that the government set up plans for a social care worker register in England as a matter of urgency.
