We recently held a 2 hour training session for our Care Workers in Basic Life Support.

Two volunteers from Herefordshire Heartstart kindly came to our office to provide the training. They talked us through situations where the need for emergency help may arise. These included a possible heart attack, choking and serious bleeding.  A DVD brought to life how vital it is to know how to react quickly in these situations to save someone’s life.

We then moved upstairs for the practical element!

Working in pairs, there were some very red faces and heavy breathing as we took it in turns to try out the techniques we had been taught!

This included putting someone in the recovery position and giving CPR.  Fortunately the volunteers were on hand to give helpful advice!

Care Worker Josie Shurmer commented:

It was very helpful and interesting and I now feel I’d know how to react in an emergency.’
We were delighted to give a donation of £160 to Herefordshire Heartstart towards the cost of providing this vital training.
