VINTAGE TEA PARTY GOES WITH A SWING!

Bluebird Care Herefordshire hosted an afternoon's Vintage Tea Party and musical entertainment on Sunday 27th October to celebrate Silver Sunday.

On Sunday 27th October Bluebird Care hosted a Vintage Tea Party at the Coronation Hall in Kingsland, Leominster. The event was held in support of Silver Sunday, organised by the Sir Simon Milton Foundation, a charity that works to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst older people.  Events have been taking place throughout the UK in October to celebrate this national day of activities.

Bluebird Care invited older residents of the Leominster area to come along to a free afternoon of fun and entertainment as their contribution to this special day.

Musical entertainment was provided by The Goodfella, a well-known Rat Pack and Swing Singer who entertained the audience with two hours of favourites from the Sinatra era with plenty of audience participation.
Eighty guests enjoyed an afternoon tea on vintage crockery which was served by the care staff of Bluebird Care.
Bluebird Care were delighted that The Mayor and Mayoress of Leominster attended and presented the prizes from the raffle.

Director and Owner of Bluebird Care, Hazel Godsall said:

‘The event was free of charge and Bluebird Care provided taxis and a minibus at our expense to enable residents without transport or who were wheelchair bound to attend for an afternoon of entertainment.

We were raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and all the donations went towards the Society with Bluebird Care Herefordshire pledging to match whatever was raised on the afternoon.

Despite the inclement weather it was tremendous to see such a good turnout including guests and their families from care homes, supported living accommodation as well as other residents in the local area.’

Guests and staff donated generously with the grand total of £858.20 being raised for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Bluebird Care provide care at home from 30 minute visits to full time live in care. They operate from a satellite office in the Buttercross Arcade, near the Leominster Library as well as from their registered office at Wormbridge in the south of the county.
