On 9th September Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley franchise owner Brian Colvin met with BBC Surrey to discuss the national Every Visit Counts campaign, along with their local initiative developed in support of the national campaign.

Brian discusses bringing dogs into older people’s lives who are struggling with loneliness and introducing dogs into the services provided at Bluebird Care Guildford and Waverley. So far, it has enabled their customers to connect with both the care assistants and their pets and it has shown to reduce the feelings of loneliness and isolation amongst these individuals.

Brian commented;

We have found that this new initiative promotes general happiness and can stimulate conversation. This has been done under the context of the Bluebird Care national campaign Every Visit Counts with the poll, commissioned by Bluebird Care highlighting significant and distressing figures. In the national poll, 1.3 million individuals in the UK aged 65 and over spend the equivalent to 4 months a year alone.”
