Local people are being invited to attend a free event in Farnham, hosted by Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley and Bluebird Care Rushmoor & Surrey Heath.

It will be an opportunity for mature people living in the town and neighbouring villages, and their family and friends, to find out about what services are on offer to help them to stay safe, secure, healthy and independent in their own homes.

The event will feature stalls and displays from a broad range of organisations and services, all of whom support older people - ensuring they can make the most of later years.

Katerina Papamichalaki, Director of Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley said:

“The over 65-year olds play an important part in our society. Not only have they contributed in previous years to the development of civic life, but they also add greatly to the economy, and give hundreds of hours of voluntary time to community groups.

We rely heavily on older people for all they do, not to mention the support they give by helping out their family and grandchildren.”

The three-hour engagement event will include stalls from a broad range of services, charities and community groups including Age UK Surrey, Farnham Assist, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Bakerlaw Solicitors, Healthwatch Surrey, TGA Living, Brightwells Gostrey, Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley and Crossroads Care Surrey.

Free refreshments and entertainment will be on offer so why not come along and enjoy the music, food and opportunity to talk to lots of different charities and groups working hard to support older members in our community.

Katerina added:

“Too often, the mature members of our society feel isolated with no one to talk to. Part of the job of our care assistants includes spending time with people, keeping them company, and giving them a helping hand around the house.

Our free event will give mature people a chance to meet others in similar situations and make new friends.  They will also be able to discover the array of organisations working in Farnham to provide a better quality of life of our older residents and their families.

The event takes place in the main hall of the Spire Church, South Street, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7RN from 10am to 1pm on Friday 20th September 2019.

Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley offers a realistic alternative to residential care by allowing people to stay in their own homes with care and support. The care assistants’ work can involve one or more short visits a day in order to help with the everyday tasks of life. However, the service doesn’t stop there because longer duration visits are also available, including overnight help and live-in care, providing our customers with help at home for life.
