We have the privilege of meeting extraordinary individuals every day, but there are certain moments that truly stand out. We celebrated a remarkable milestone as one of our beloved customers, Joan, reached her 100th birthday.
Joan has been part of our Bluebird Care family for several years now, and her kindness, resilience, and zest for life have always inspired our team. Born in 1924, Joan has lived through countless historical moments, from the days of World War II to the arrival of modern technology - her life is a treasure trove of stories and memories that we are so fortunate to share in.
To mark Joan’s centenary, we knew we had to make it a celebration she would never forget. Our team arrived with a lovely bouquet, adorned with her favourite colours and a special card signed by all of us. Joan was visibly touched by the gesture, her eyes lighting up as we gathered around to sing “Happy Birthday.”
What strikes us most about Joan is her unwavering positivity. Even after 100 years, she continues to find joy in the simple things - her morning tea, a good book, and the birds outside her window. She’s known among our care team for her quick wit, love of music, and, of course, her deep affection for her family. Every visit with Joan is a reminder of how fortunate we are to do the work we do - helping incredible people like her live independently in the comfort of their homes.
As we look back on Joan’s 100 years, we can’t help but be in awe of all she has experienced and achieved. She has witnessed the world change in ways most of us can only imagine, and yet she remains as grounded and gracious as ever. It was a true honour to celebrate this day with her, and we are already looking forward to seeing what the next year holds for Joan.
