Meet Si King: Championing Better Conversations About Care
You may know Si King as one half of the much-loved Hairy Bikers, known for his warmth, humour and passion for bringing people together through food. But Si’s connection to care is deeply personal — and it’s one of the reasons we’re proud to have him as Bluebird Care’s Brand Ambassador.
Why Si King is working with Bluebird Care
Si has seen first-hand the difference that compassionate, high-quality care at home can make. During his close friend and fellow Hairy Biker Dave Myers’ cancer treatment, Si witnessed how the right support can help someone feel comfortable, valued and able to remain in the place they know best: home.
That experience shaped Si’s belief that care should always be delivered with dignity, kindness and respect.
What good care really means
At Bluebird Care, we believe care is about much more than practical support. It is about trust, relationships and helping people live safely, happily and independently at home.
Si shares this belief. Through his role as Brand Ambassador, he is helping us raise awareness of what good care should look and feel like — not rushed, uncertain or impersonal, but thoughtful, reliable and centred around the individual.
Supporting families to start the conversation
Many families only begin thinking about care when circumstances suddenly change. This can make decisions feel stressful and overwhelming.
To help make those conversations easier, Si recently appeared on Good Morning Britain to introduce Bluebird Care’s Good Care Checklist — a free, practical guide designed to help people and their loved ones talk openly about later-life care and plan ahead with more confidence.
Introducing the Good Care Checklist
The Good Care Checklist offers clear, supportive guidance to help families:
- Understand what good care should feel like
- Know what questions to ask when choosing care
- Feel more confident when making important decisions
- Reduce stress by planning ahead
It is designed to offer reassurance at every stage, whether you are thinking about care for yourself, supporting a loved one, or simply wanting to feel better informed.
A shared commitment to care with dignity
For Si, this partnership is about helping people feel informed, supported and reassured. For Bluebird Care, it is about continuing to champion care that enables people to live well at home, with dignity, choice and compassion.
We are proud to be working alongside Si to help more families understand what good care really means.
