This year Bluebird Care Glasgow South is supporting Ask Your Pharmacist Week 2016 which runs from the 7 - 14th November, with the aim of raising awareness of local community pharmacy services.
Ask Your Pharmacist Week provides a platform for pharmacy public awareness activities across the UK. This year the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) will have a stronger focus on digital assets to help support the awareness week.
The NPA is a trade association for all pharmacy professionals in the UK, with the aim of supporting professionals, for the benefit of their patients. According to the National Pharmaceutical Association, up to 3000 local pharmacies are at risk of closure, which is nearly 25% across the UK, adding an extra 1 million patients every month to struggling GP and NHS services.
The theme of this year’s awareness week is ‘Ask Your Pharmacist about Medicine and More’, which is purposefully broad to allow pharmacies maximum flexibility, to focus on local priorities. As part of the campaign NHS commissioners, along with health charities and pharmacy students will be promoting the week, particularly on social media encouraging individuals to make better use and more frequent visits to their local pharmacies.
