Last week we were happy to celebrate the milestone of 500 employers in Scotland who are paying the living wage.

The Scottish Living Wage Accreditation Initiative had set a target of reaching 500 accredited Living Wage Employers in Scotland by the end of March 2016. At the time the target was set last year, this seemed impossible, but we were delighted to be informed that the target was met early and they passed the 500 mark late last week!

The Scottish Living Wage Accreditation Initiative was set up in April 2014. Hosted by The Poverty Alliance, the Initiative works alongside the Living Wage Foundation and is funded by the Scottish Government. The Living Wage Foundation began offering accreditation to employers in the UK in 2011 and is offered to employers who pay their staff the Living Wage. There are now more than 1,100 Living Wage Employers in the UK.

David Faith a living wage accreditation officer from the Poverty alliance, visited the Bluebird Care Glasgow South office on Tuesday 29th March, to commemorate this milestone. On hand to help mark the event were Catherine Boyd, Lynsey Torbit, Jane Perry & Sarah Welsh from our Glasgow South team.

We are very happy to be early adopters of the initiative, and are committed to being the best employers we can be to our fast-growing team!
