From Carer to Support Supervisor – Diane’s Story

We believe in promoting internally, read Diane's story.

Here at Bluebird Care Glasgow South, we’re continually looking for ways to improve our service, not only to our home care customers but to our team. We pride ourselves on always thinking outside of the box and always challenging the ways we do things. Recently, we began to think about how we could support our supervisors.

Our supervisors have busy roles, as their roles are to ensure that our customers and care assistants are happy and supported. If they receive any feedback on how we can improve things, they report back with suggestions on how we can do things.

To help with this, we have promoted Diane from Care Assistant to Support Supervisor. Diane started with Bluebird Care Glasgow South 3 years ago and has proven herself to be an excellent Care Assistant which is why we thought she’d be ideal for this role.

This role will offer support to our supervisors with tasks such as contacting GP’s, social workers, and other professionals during office hours so we can explore ways to enhance our customer care experience. This will allow the supervisors to be out in the community monitoring the quality of care.

We spoke to Jane Perry, Director of Bluebird Care Glasgow South to get her views on the promotion:

“I have been delighted to watch Diane grow over the past 3 years. She is passionate about customer care both across our customers and within our team and that’s why I think she will be an excellent addition to our office team. When you promote from within, you’re tapping into other people’s views as you can imagine Care Assistants have first-hand experience of what’s happening in the community”.

Diane says:

“It has been 3 years since I started my journey into the wonderful world of care. Over the course of the last year, I have begun to be a mentor/coach to others within my team to help them with their journey into care. I’ve shared my knowledge which has been both fun and rewarding. I’m looking forward to my new position as Support Supervisor and I am confident that within time, with the fantastic training that is provided, I will be of great value to the office team. Bluebird Care offers individuals a great scope to grow and that’s why I love working for Bluebird Care Glasgow South”.
