Bluebird Care Glasgow South is supporting Dementia Awareness Week 2017, an annual campaign run by Alzheimer Scotland from 29 May– 4 June 2017.

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading dementia organisation in Scotland, with around 90,000 individual’s in Scotland living with dementia.

This year’s theme for Dementia Awareness Week is to help people understand why friendship and kindness are even more important for those with Dementia. We hope to raise awareness of the condition across Glasgow and East Renfrewshire, improving the care received and finding a cure that is so urgently needed.

Where possible, individuals are encouraged help others find out about local services available to them, talk about when to expect with a diagnosis and get involved with fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland.

Jane Perry, director of Bluebird Care Glasgow South, said:

Dementia Awareness Week in Scotland is the perfect opportunity to help people understand the importance of friendship and kindness, especially to those living with dementia. With the numbers of individuals living with dementia is Scotland set to rise it is important people in local communities understand the diagnosis and feel supported to live the life they choose.
