MND is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord.  This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.  It can be an aggressive and devastating illness for which there is still no known cure or evidence as to how or why people develop MND.

Bluebird Care Gateshead is excited to be taking part in a local charity golf day on 12 June 2015 at Wilton Golf Club in support of the MND Association.

The golf day is hosted by Jon and Allison Hinchliffe who have supported the MNDA charity for over 3 years.  This is a charity very close to their hearts after Allison’s dear friend and former work colleague was diagnosed with MND in 2011 and who sadly lost her fight in November 2012.

Jon and Allison have raised over £5,000 for MND Association since 2012.  Jon has completed two marathons for the charity, they have hosted their annual golf day since 2012, which is supported by individuals and businesses from all over the North-East, and of course they took part in last summer’s ice bucket challenge!
