At Bluebird Care NEW Devon, our customers’ safety and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we were delighted to welcome a representative from Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service to our office this week for an important discussion about fire safety in the home.
The visit highlighted the valuable free Home Fire Safety Visits available to our customers, especially those who are older, living with disabilities, or more vulnerable to fire risk. During these visits, trained fire safety advisors from the service can check for potential fire hazards and provide tailored advice on escape plans.
Our team gained insight into how to effectively make partner referrals for these visits and how to collaborate more closely with the fire service to ensure our customers have every opportunity to live safely and independently
Sandi Sherman, our Operations Manager for NEW Devon said:
We’re incredibly grateful to Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service for taking the time to meet with us. These free safety checks could genuinely save lives, and we’re proud to be part of the process in helping our customers access them.
As a care provider, we see firsthand how important these measures are. We’ll be working with our care teams to raise awareness and identify any customers who could benefit from a visit. If you're a customer or a family member and would like more information, please do get in touch with our office.
Together, we can take simple, practical steps that make a big difference in keeping people safe at home.
