Recently, two of our wonderful Care Workers; Tom and Maggie, took time out of their busy work day to film case studies for Devon County Council and the Care Careers Devon Website.

Tom has been a Care Worker with Bluebird Care Exeter and East Devon for a number of years and says “I love what I do”.

Despite having Dyslexia, Tom said he received all the support he needed to gain his NVQ Level 2 and he also has a manual handling instructors certificate so can teach other Care Workers.

Tom says “I feel very honoured if we walk away when someone has recovered enough to look after themselves…to be able to say ‘I helped that person’”.

Maggie who is 74, has been a Care Worker with us for just over a year.

She started her career as an Auxiliary Nurse but discovered Care Work when she moved to the South West.

In her video she talks about why she’s still working and about what her job involves. Maggie says “…it’s just being able to help people, make them comfortable, enabling them to stay in their own home…..Every day is a ‘feel good’ day”.
