Bluebird Care Exeter, Exmouth, East Devon, and West Devon has teamed up with Gina Awad from Exeter Dementia Action Alliance to create a new video about managing dementia during the pandemic.

In a step to help make life easier for people living with dementia in the UK during the pandemic, and their famillies and carers, Bluebird Care's William Flint has teamed up with local dementia activist, Gina Awad to create an informative and insightful video that shares tips and advice for coping with dementia during the pandemic.

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic and the significant impact it has had on people living with dementia and those caring for them, as part of the Bluebird Care Exeter response to the pandemic, we wanted to provide ideas and support to make life during the current crisis a little easier. To ensure that we were able to offer the right advice, we chose to team up with Gina, who is the founder of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance and a Dementia Friends' Dementia Champion.

William Flint, Director of Bluebird Care said:

“As part of our response to the COVID-19 crisis, we wanted to find a way to actively address the struggles that many people living with dementia, and those who provide care to them - both professional carers and family carers - are currently dealing with. We are extremely excited to have been able to collaborate with local Dementia Champion, Gina Awad on this exciting project.”

The video was designed to be informative, interesting and insightful, and packed full of useful and actionable advice for helping people living with dementia, and those that provide care to them, to make coping during the current pandemic a little easier.

Gina Awad from Exeter Dementia Action Alliance said:

“It was an honour to collaborate with Will Flint at Bluebird Care to create this video and provide some useful information for families living with dementia. It’s a tough time for us all but a few tips can make a big difference.”

Gina, who formed the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance in 2014, is passionate about the needs of people living with dementia and their families, and has a fantastic knowledge of what it takes to provide high levels of care to a person living with dementia.

The video aims to help people across Devon and the wider UK who are living with dementia or who are caring for someone with dementia, to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic in a more informed way.
