Exeter gets ready to Dance In Devon

Bluebird Care Exeter does Dance In Devon - a specialist dance class designed for elderly customers with a spring in their step.

Bluebird Care Exeter staff and customers are starting the new year with a Dance In Devon as part of our Wellbeing Programme.

In 2018, we are expanding and building upon our successful Wellbeing Programme by partnering with local organisation Dance In Devon.

Together we are asking our customers if they care to dance this January - helping them get out, have fun, meet people and feel supported in living fulfilling and happy lives in Devon.

As we age, our bodies begin to lose muscle mass, coordination and balance, making us more like to fall and injure ourselves during everyday activities. This specialised, low-impact dancing delivered by the Dance In Devon tea is a fantastic way to help our customers get back on their feet and feeling fit and active once more.

Research shows that dancing improves strength and muscle function in older adults, as well as increasing balance and flexibility. This can lead to better stability, reducing the chances of falls and injuries. It can also improve posture, reaction times and moto performance if continued over time.

But as well as all the amazing, physical benefits it can bring, dancing also encourages and enables social connections between our customers, many of whom often feel isolated from their wider Exeter community. Social interaction and friendship plays an important role in our general sense of happiness and wellbeing.

This event is part of our Wellbeing Programme, a series of monthly events designed to practically, physically and emotionally encourage and support our Exeter customers to get out, have fun, meet people and feel supported in living a fulfilled and happy life.
