At Bluebird Care NEW Devon, promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle is a core value. Recently, a growing number of our office and care staff have embraced cycling to work as their preferred mode of transportation. This shift benefits our employees and aligns with our commitment to the environment and the well-being of the communities we serve.
Health Benefits for Our Staff
Regular cycling can improve cardiovascular fitness, boost mental health, and increase overall energy levels.
Environmental Impact
By choosing to cycle instead of driving, Bluebird Care NEW Devon staff are significantly reducing their carbon footprint. Fewer cars on the road mean lower emissions and less traffic congestion, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment.
Personal Stories
Currently, two of our dedicated cyclists are providing up to 80 hours of care each week.
Our staff's personal experiences highlight the positive impact of cycling. Natasha Cottrell, one of our Exmouth Care Assistants, shares, "Cycling to work has transformed my daily routine. I feel more energised and ready to take on the day. Plus, it's a great way to unwind after a busy shift."
Similarly, Boudicca, our Digital Marketing Assistant, notes, “Cycling has been a game-changer. It's not only cost-effective but also a fantastic way to stay fit and reduce my carbon footprint."
Looking Ahead
Bluebird Care NEW Devon is committed to further promoting cycling among our staff and hope to add cycling-suitable shifts in as many of our Devon locations as possible.
In conclusion, cycling to work is a win-win for our employees and the environment. At Bluebird Care NEW Devon, we are proud of our staff's dedication to making healthy, sustainable choices and will continue to support their efforts in every way possible.
