Care touches so many lives, whether through supporting a family member, helping someone maintain their independence or providing a little extra reassurance when it’s needed most.

For our new Bluebird Care ambassador, Natalie Cassidy, understanding the importance of care is something that comes from personal experience.

Best known for playing Sonia Fowler in BBC’s Eastenders, Natalie has joined Bluebird Care in a partnership that will help shine a light on the world of care and the difference good support can make.

A personal journey into care

Natalie’s interest in care began with her own family. Towards the end of his life, she cared for her father at home following his dementia diagnosis, while also balancing her acting career and raising her two young children.

Through this experience, Natalie gained an understanding of the emotional and practical challenges that families can face when someone they love needs additional support.

It also gave her a greater appreciation of the importance of compassionate care and the people who dedicate their time to helping others.

Discovering more about the care sector

Wanting to develop her understanding further, Natalie enrolled on a Level 3 course in health and social care.

She also took part in her BBC documentary series, Natalie Cassidy: Caring Together, where she trained as a carer across a variety of different aspects of care and gain insight into the wide range of support provided to individuals and families.

Her experiences helped bring the realities of caring into the spotlight and highlighted just how important care professionals are in people's everyday lives.

Why Natalie is a wonderful fit for Bluebird Care

At Bluebird Care, we believe care is about people, understanding their individual needs and helping them live life in the way they choose.

For some, that means having a little extra support with everyday activities. For others, it means having someone there to provide reassurance, companionship or help them maintain their independence at home.

Natalie's personal connection to care and her desire to learn more about the sector reflect many of the values that matter to us.

Through this partnership, we hope to encourage more conversations about care, celebrate the people who make a difference and help more families understand the support that may be available to them.

Looking forward to what's next

As our new ambassador, Natalie will be working with Bluebird Care nationally to shine a light on the care sector and celebrate the wonderful work happening across our network.

She will also help showcase the training, learning and development opportunities available through the Bluebird Care Academy.

We're delighted to welcome Natalie and look forward to sharing more about our partnership in the months ahead.
