Bluebird Care Epping & Harlow is supporting this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) 2016, which happens every year on 3rd December.The awareness day, sanctioned by the United Nations, is celebrated annually around the world. The purpose of the day is to increase awareness, as well as understanding and acceptance of persons with disabilities.
Each year the awareness day launches a new theme to focus on and this year it is titled;
“Achieving 17 goals for the future we want”
As stated by the United Nations, this theme notes the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role that these goals play in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.
On September 25th 2015 countries adopted a set of goals (SDG’s) with each goal having a specific target to be achieved over the next 15 years, the set of goals can be views on the UN website.
Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a collaborative effort between schools, organisations, community groups, local businesses and individuals to help break down disability barriers and to celebrate abilities.
