During James visits to customer Sam Martinez, it became clear to James, that Sam wanted to go to the final to hopefully see his beloved Hibs lift the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years. James, in his own time, made the journey to Easter Road (Hibs’ home ground) to speak to the officials and ask if there was any possibility of getting complimentary tickets for Sam. Over the next 2 weeks, James and our coordinators, Angela & Linda were in constant communication with Hibs, which culminated in the club donating 3 tickets for Sam, James and Sam’s son-in law Jim. In addition, after contacting the local radio station, Radio Forth, to tell them of Sam’s plight, a local taxi firm arranged free transport for them to go to the final. If that wasn’t enough, they were also donated £100 towards a meal, before the game!
The day itself went according to plan and to cap it all off, Hibs beat Rangers to finally lift the cup for the first time in 114 years. A memorable day with an extremely happy ending (unless you are a Rangers fan of course)!
John Perry, director of Bluebird Care Edinburgh commented;
Well done James, you are a credit to yourself and we here at Bluebird Care Edinburgh are very proud of you for what you did for Sam."
