Celebrating the Heart of Gold at the Eastbourne Community Awards 2026We were proud to sponsor the Heart of Gold award at the inaugural Eastbourne Community Awards 2026, held on Thursday 19th June at the beautiful Glass House on Eastbourne Seafront.
Organised by Coda Pharmacy in partnership with Bournefree Magazine, the awards celebrated the individuals, charities, businesses and community groups whose dedication helps make Eastbourne such a special place to live.
The Heart of Gold Award
As sponsors of the Heart of Gold award, we were honoured to present the award to Don, Abby and Thomas McPhee, a remarkable family whose fundraising efforts have transformed countless lives across the local community.
For more than 16 years, the family has raised almost £500,000 for local charities and families in need. Through charity golf days, cricket matches, quiz nights, comedy events and variety shows, they have brought people together while raising vital funds.
One of their most touching achievements has been organising three full wedding ceremonies for couples living with life-limiting illnesses. Their events are made possible with the support of more than 100 local businesses, and in 2022 their outstanding community work was recognised with an invitation to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party.
Supporting Local Charities
All proceeds from the evening were donated to St Wilfrid's Hospice and SASBAH, two charities that make an incredible difference to people across Eastbourne and Sussex.
St Wilfrid's Hospice provides specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families, while SASBAH has spent more than 60 years supporting people affected by disability through practical assistance, advocacy and community programmes.
We are proud that the event will help both charities continue their invaluable work.
A Community Worth Celebrating
The Eastbourne Community Awards was a wonderful celebration of the people who give so much to others. It was inspiring to see so many local heroes recognised for their compassion, dedication and commitment to making a difference.
At Bluebird Care Eastbourne, supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do, and we were honoured to play a small part in such a special evening.
