Patricia Hughes
Director

Tricia Hughes is one of the Directors of Bluebird Care Dunbartonshire.

As the Director, I endeavour to ensure that my franchise represents the Bluebird Care purpose and ethos and that all of our staff are as passionate about delivering the best bespoke, quality care service.

What do you do in your current role?

I know my business inside out and have done everything from caring to coordinating. Through my main role as Company Director, I oversee all aspects of the business, ensuring that the interests and wellbeing of all the customers and staff are met, thus enabling the business runs smoothly and effectively.

Are you a Trainer?

I am extremely proud to say that we have a fantastic management team who deliver ALL of our training in-house. I am sure they won’t mind if I whisper that collectively we have over 100 years of care experience in our team…which is really important for us as this enables us to provide bespoke tailor-made training for our Care Assistant’s based on our individual customers’ needs and requirements.

What do you enjoy about working for Bluebird Care?

I wanted to ensure that I was able to deliver an ethical business model; one which really makes a difference to people’s lives…Bluebird Care’s Ethos of Home is where the Heart is…Let’s keep it that way’ fits the bill perfectly!

What made you go into a career in care?

Having a passion for providing the highest quality of care, where the human rights of citizens are safeguarded and protected without compromise.

What did you do before Bluebird Care?

I have over 30 years of experience working with some of our most marginalised and vulnerable citizens and wanted to help improve their quality of life AND life opportunities. I decided to train as a Social Worker, and then taught Health and Social Care within the Further Education system before embarking on running my own Bluebird Care business. I personally believe this is the best way for me to DIRECTLY have a positive impact on people’s lives and I have never looked back!

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I love having any opportunity I can get to spend time with family and friends.

Carlymarie Taylor
Business Support

Carlymarie Taylor is the Business Support of Bluebird Care Dunbartonshire.

As business support, I aim to ensure that we have rotas working efficiently and sent out on time as well as making sure that our systems are up to date and compliant.

What do you do in your current role?

I provide the coordination of staff and customer rotas ensuring that they are as efficient as they can be allowing sufficient travel time for staff and suitable timings for customer’s visits. Apart from coordination, I provide business support through the means of auditing and upkeeping of staff files ensuring all staff documents are up to date and compliant, call handling assisting existing staff and customer queries as well as handling new enquiries from people who would like to be part of the Bluebird Care family.

I also complete routine wellbeing checks for our customers and staff ensuring that everyone is keeping well both physically and mentally especially during the recent pandemic.

Marketing is also an area that I provide support in by planning, monitoring and publishing our story on our social media and website pages.

Are you a Trainer?

I am yes. I am a qualified train the trainer in first aid. I am also on hand to provide training on our induction and orientation and GDPR. I also manage the enrolment and ongoing support to staff on our new eLearning platform.

What did you do before Bluebird Care?

I worked for a security company for many years.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I like going on holiday, meeting with friends and looking after my wonderful god children.

Shirley Neil
Care Coordinator

Shirley Neil is the Care Coordinator of Bluebird Care Dunbartonshire.

As the lead carer, I aspire to support our staff to be competent, confident and ready to deliver the highest quality of home care in Dunbartonshire and surrounding areas.

What do you do in your current role?

I complete routine spot-checks and observations of staff to ensure that all staff are on the same page in terms of the level of care expected of them whilst complying with regulations and policies.

In addition to ensuring our team remain compliant, I provide business and coordination support to the office team including call handling, organising and changing rotas/schedules, completing wellbeing checks on all customers and staff and providing any other support needed in relation to recruitment and staff support.

Are you a Trainer?

Although I am not a registered trainer, I do provide training in the form of shadow training. This involves me meeting with new carers and introducing them to our wonderful customers and showing them what tasks are needing completed throughout the visit, how to use our PASS system and any other forms/documents that need to be filled out.

What do you enjoy about working for Bluebird Care?

I enjoy meeting new people including customers and staff. It’s great to welcome people from all parts of life into a life in care. I love learning new things and my progression from carer to lead carer has allowed me to learn so many aspects of the care industry.

What made you go into a career in care?

I am a very caring individual and enjoy looking after people. I decided one day to change my career into care and found Bluebird Care to be one of the better rated companies.

What did you do before Bluebird Care?

I worked for Morrisons as checkout manager and regional trainer for many years.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I like travelling abroad, dining out especially to Indian and Italian restaurants. I follow both Scottish and English football. I am an animal lover and have a cat and dog.
