Paying for a live-in carer can be a preferable alternative to a care home. It enables you to stay in your own home, with direct person-centred care tailored specifically for your needs - to be given to suit you, rather than having to fit around someone else's timetable.

When deciding about the next stage of your care journey, if you are considering having Live-in Care, rather than having to move from the home where you and your memories have been for many years, the cost of the different choices that you have are important considerations.

As with all aspects of deciding on your future care, it is important to get the best advice available, so as to be able to make a properly informed choice, that will meet all of your requirements.

Currently, people with household assets of £23,250 will be expected by the government to fund the cost of their own care. Live-in care is when a carer moves in to your house and lives with you. Carers cannot work all of the time so you will usually have at least 2 regular carers and occasional carers who cover illness and holidays. Your main carers may be with you for 2 weeks at a time and alternate between them. They are still covered by employment laws so they will need a 2 hour break every day and they cannot work all day and all night. If you need someone to be with you at night, in addition to your day care, then you will either need additional live-in carers or a night carer but all of this can be discussed with you if you call our friendly team on 01384 297839.
Yes, that is no problem and it is often a cheaper alternative than a care home and allows you to stay in your own home and have more individual care to be able to continue to do things to your own timetable.
Live-in care is individually assessed as it will depend on the amount of support required. We can discuss this with you when you call. However, as a rough guide it will cost in the region of £1,700 per week.
