In February this year, Director of Bluebird Care, Dean Slade, became a Dementia Friends Champion as part of the Dementia Friends programme.

To become a Dementia Friends Champion, candidates are required to complete a one day session held by the Alzheimer’s Society. The session includes information about dementia and how people can be affected, along with practical ideas to help people in their community to live well with dementia.

As a Dementia Friends Champion, Dean is a volunteer who encourages others to make a positive difference to people living with dementia within his community. Dean is now able to provide Dementia Friends Sessions within Croydon, where he can give information about the personal impact of dementia, and what people can do to help.

If you are interested in attending an information session on living with dementia, please e-mail Dean on deanslade@bluebirdcare.co.uk. To find out more information about becoming a Dementia Friends Champion, visit the Dementia Friends website.
