Bluebird Care Croydon’s Monica Hatton wins London Care Award

Bluebird Care Croydon employee Monica Hatton was awarded Care Newcomer of the Year at the London Care Awards on Saturday 26th November 2016. Bluebird Care Croydon also picked up another 3 finalist awards.

Monica CroydonBluebird Care Croydon were celebrating the winning of a main award along with three Finalist Awards at the Great London Care Awards – London Awards Evening which was held on Saturday 26th November at the Marriot Hotel Regents Park in London presented by opera star Rory Campbell.

Monica was up against all home care companies in Greater London for this major care awards event and she was the winner of the Care Newcomer of the Year Award.

Monica commented:
I can’t believe that I have won and I am very proud to win this award. I become a care assistant after giving up working to care for my mother before she died. I feel I have found my forte in life, enjoying all aspects of being a carer from chatting over tea to helping people to maintain their dignity. I enjoy my job immensely.”
The judges commented:
Passionate and dedicated to delivery person centred care. Monica was inspired to join the care section through caring for a loved one. For her caring is a vocation. A very special individual!”
Other Bluebird Care Croydon finalist awards collected included:

Dean Slade & Bluebird Care Croydon - finalist Employer of the Year, Louise Higgins – Finalist Home Care Worker of the Year and  Sanchia Cooper - finalist Home Care Worker of the Year.

The Great London Care Awards are part of the Great British Care Awards which celebrate excellence across the social care sector. The awards are a series of 9 regional awards celebrating excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to promote best practice within both homecare and care home sectors, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Croydon awardSector support includes Care England, The Department of Health, Alzheimer’s Society, The National Care Forum and The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) as well as local authorities and commercial organisations.

Bluebird Care are currently looking for 50 new care assistants to join this successful team.

Bluebird Care was set up in Croydon in May 2010 by local Croydon resident, Dean Slade. Dean who previously worked at Croydon’s University Hospital witnessed first-hand the lack of high quality flexible care in the home services and wanted to give something back to his local community.  In little more than 6 years the Croydon office of Bluebird Care is now providing over 50,000 care visits a year.  They employ over 70 local care staff which has provided a great number of new jobs to the Croydon area.
