Minions Take Over Clacton: A Despicable (But Delightful) Day Out!
The day kicked off with our Director on chauffeur duty, picking up our wonderful customers—our very first set of Minions for the day! Of course, no Minion squad is complete without their fearless leader, so Gru (aka Willy) was picked up, and we all headed over to Clacton Airfield to meet the judges.

We arrived ready to impress, and the judges were completely blown away by the inclusivity of our group. We wanted to make sure absolutely everyone could join the fun, regardless of their physical or mental health needs. Our Director went out of his way to ensure the day was fully accessible, tailored, and comfortable for all our clients. Whether they needed a calm and supportive environment, a gentle pace for the walk, or a cozy seat riding along in the Bluebird Care car for those with mobility challenges, every single detail was thoughtfully planned so that no Minion was left behind!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our fantastic, inclusive team bagged second place! But that's not all—our efforts even caught the eye of the press, and our Minion squad officially made it into the local paper! You can read the Clacton & Frinton Gazette’s brilliant write-up of the procession here: https://www.clactonandfrintongazette.co.uk/news/26448500.clacton-carnival-procession-brings-nostalgia-seafront/
While we waited for the procession to kick off, we made sure to grab some ice creams and take a walk around to check out the other brilliant people taking part. We also got to work decorating the car with bananas and balloons. Naturally, things got a bit silly, and a full-blown bubble gun fight broke out!
Then it was time to follow the procession to the pier, which was absolutely packed with people. Sue was at the wheel of the Bluebird Care car, crawling alongside our walkers, and did an amazing job—it turns out all that time driving around Colchester has made her an absolute master of stop-start clutch control!
Along the route, we collected loads of money for the charity buckets, with Willy proving to be especially good at rallying the crowd. Our newest recruit, Gina, was an absolute crowd-pleaser; instead of the classic Minion "banana," she spent the route shouting out "potato" while busting out some crazy Minion dances! As for the grand total raised? We’ll have to wait and see, as all the charity buckets are handed in at the very end of the event.
It was a fantastic, fun-filled day out, and we couldn't be prouder of our award-winning Minion team.
