I made the right decision staying at home.  I don’t feel lonely anymore, and I can get all the support I now need.  I definitely didn’t want to move away to a care home, but it was an option I thought of as I got older.  A couple of hours a day was not helping me anymore. However, the lovely lady from Bluebird Care reviewed my care and discussed the options I had with them.  It meant I could stay at home and I could keep the carers that I had grown fond of. It was really lovely to hear. Now it’s been six months and I am as happy as ever.

Our dad needed somebody with him all the time when our mum passed away.  He was so pampered by her and couldn’t do anything himself, so we as a family were really worried when she died.  We didn’t know what he would do without her.  Although nobody can take mums place, I must say dad’s needs are really well attended to.  He still gets the same breakfast, lunch and dinner, the same time out, the same clean laundry and everything he needs to get through the day.  That’s the sign of bespoke care. I really do not know what I would have done without you.  It was really becoming hard for me and my siblings to look after mum and dad and run our lives with our own families, jobs and responsibilities. I was struggling at work and missing deadlines, constantly worried about what mum and dad would be doing, their meals, had they fallen, were they wandering off again.  It was awful.  Even at home I was not sleeping well thinking about things, did they close the windows, the stove, the heating, did they eat, did they have their medication etc. I was almost becoming depressed.  A friend recommended me to Bluebird care.  I was skeptical at first but after meeting your staff I felt reassured.  The carers have been consistent and so helpful.  I can now go to work without feeling the pressure of worry, knowing mum and dad are fine.  They got their quality of life back and I did too as I am a son again.

I am very happy indeed with the committed team of carers I have.  I need carers who understand me and my lifestyle.  They’re living in my home after all!
