Now the Government's furlough scheme has ended and almost 1 million people are expected to be left in limbo. Bluebird Care Mid-South have the solution for those who want to make a difference.
When the pandemic first swept over the nation many companies were quick to terminate employee contracts and make key personnel redundant to preserve the companies’ long-term success.
The BBC reported that in the first nine months of the pandemic, the number of individuals on company payrolls fell by 820,000*. Homecare providers remained open and operational throughout the pandemic offering essential services to those in need of assistance with personal care, companionship, general housekeeping, and support with getting outdoors. Whilst many businesses have been forced to cease operations, the Bluebird Care staff donned PPE and continued to offer customers and safety and security of their own home.
Nearly one million people are expected to be left in limbo by the end of scheme and Bluebird Care Mid-South believe that they have the perfect roles for those who are caring, compassionate, patient, and organised.
Sophie Nutley, HR Manager of Bluebird Care Mid-South said of the opportunities in homecare: “Homecare is an industry of high growth and opportunity. Not only do employees of Bluebird Care enjoy a host of benefits but also the opportunity to train and develop in the company.”
The company who has branches in Chichester, Epsom, Reigate, Sussex Weald and Sutton welcomed a huge number of people from the aviation, hospitality, business, and retail in the early stages of the pandemic. Many of those have enjoyed their roles so much that they have continued to work in homecare, enjoying the competitive pay, flexibility and benefits it offers.
James switched industries when the pandemic unfolded last year, he explains what he enjoys most about working in care: ““Every customer I visit is different and so no two days are ever the same. Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to stay within my sector (the arts business) in the current climate, I was drawn toward something worthwhile and would make a difference.
I quickly learnt that in care, the seemingly smallest of tasks have a significant impact on a person’s life. Whether it’s going to the shops, making breakfast or just a social call. But also, that if it’s a couple, you’re doing as much for the caring part of the couple as much as the person you’re caring for. When I head to work in morning, I know that whatever I do, I will make a difference.”
Bluebird Care Mid-South offer the customers customised care packages which enable them to live happily and healthily in their own homes. They have opportunities in both live-in, hourly care and office-based roles.
