Bluebird Care Cheshire East is once again the proud sponsor of celebrations marking Older People’s Day October 1st.

Bluebird Care Cheshire East is once again the proud sponsor of celebrations marking Older People’s Day October 1st. This year, instead of our usual “Silver Sunday” event we joined with 160 guests on Older People’s day itself at the Crewe Alexandra football ground, Carlsberg Lounge for an afternoon of music and dancing.

South Cheshire Pensioner’s Association (SCPA) Chairman Kevan Larkin and Secretary Hugh Emerson made sure a warm welcome was extended to as many older people in our community as possible, ensuring a great attendance on the day. There was entertainment from jazz quartet the Bill Bailey Band and the audience sang along and danced to wartime classics performed by The Funky Choir.

Director of Bluebird Care Cheshire East, Joanna Lee commented “It is such a joy to be involved with this annual celebration of our older people who have made and continue to make such rich contributions to our community. These events also reach out to those vulnerable and perhaps lonely individuals who appreciate the opportunity to socialise”.

Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis, Mayor of Crewe (pictured) reminded us all in his speech that “age is just a number!” A fabulous afternoon was had by all!
