The Faces behind bluebird care – Meet Steve
Bluebird Care Cardiff would not be able to provide the best service to our customers if it weren’t for the amazing and hard-working carers behind the scenes!
In today’s blog post, we are going to meet Steve!
We are going to discover more about Steve and his thoughts on working for Bluebird Care.
Steve is 60 and has been working for Bluebird Care since February 2016! And outside of his role, Steve enjoys golfing, fishing and taking care of his many cats and dogs.
Steve was previously a delivery driver, however, his stepdaughter at the time worked for Bluebird Care, so he decided to take on a new role and become a carer.
Steve enjoys his role at Bluebird Care as he enjoys meeting the customers and has met and taken care of many lovely customers over the years.
Steve thinks of himself as a very chatty and personable guy, and he loves talking to the customers and getting to know them. He understands that some customers don’t see their families, so he knows that having conversations with our customers each time he visits makes their day, as it may be the only time they get to speak to anyone.
Steve still takes care of his first-ever customer! Being with his first-ever customer still to this day, he has become a part of their extended family. That is one of the nice things about working in care, you become a part of the customers’ life.
Steve’s role as a carer for Bluebird Care is varied, and he completes a mixture of tasks and services within his role. He can help customers with their hygiene, take care of medicine prep, manage their meals and take some out on social activities.
Working in care isn’t easy; Steve has talked about one of the hardest parts of the job is when you lose a customer. When you take care of someone for so long, they become your friend and you become a part of their life. However, Steve feels that care is such a rewarding role because you know you have made an impact on someone’s life.
When working in care you develop a rapport with each client, so much so that they begin to ask when you are coming back. When Steve takes any annual leave, he has clients asking when he will come back as his clients trust him.
Steve has a lot of helpful advice to offer for those who work and are looking to work in care; he says you need to learn to navigate your schedule. Don’t panic about time and don’t rush your appointments. You will make each appointment on time. Just keep everyone up to date with any issues as the office team are there to help.
We will be sharing more stories about the faces behind Bluebird Care in future blog posts, sharing stories about our carers and office staff and why they love working in care!
