Dear Customer or Family Member

Coronavirus Update

We are writing to keep you up to date with the latest information concerning Coronavirus and our plans for the foreseeable future.

As you are well aware it is difficult to predict what might happen, not least as information changes throughout each day. However, to keep abreast of developments as they happen we are receiving advice directly from Public Health England which is specifically for community healthcare providers. Following yesterday’s decision of the UK Government to move from the ‘containment’ phase in its plan to the ‘delay’ phase, we are awaiting further updated advice from the government specifically for domiciliary care companies such as ours. We will update you on any further information that comes from that advice as soon as we receive it.

In the meantime, we have taken the following steps within our organisation to plan as best we can for future events and are grateful for your continued support and understanding.

Raising Awareness

All carers have been reminded of the importance of washing their hands properly at the start, during and end of each care call. All carers have been provided with suitable PPE including hand sanitiser, which they are being encouraged to use whenever hot water and soap are unavailable (when they disembark public transport for instance). Carers have also been reminded of the importance of other basic hygiene principles including using and binning used tissues immediately.

Contingency Planning

As we await further details and advice as to the Government’s plans for future scenarios, the management team has updated the company’s business continuity plan which is what we will refer to in the event of certain eventualities. For instance, if carer absence levels are high due to carers self-isolating after identifying potential coronavirus symptoms.

Information

We will continue to write to you via email or post, and telephone directly when there could be a specific impact on a service user. Plus, our website will provide up-to-date information about our plans for navigating the Coronavirus crisis.

Finally, this is clearly a difficult and unprecedented situation for us all and we are doing our very best to react to and pre-empt situations as they arise, so we are asking for your continued support as we take those decisions in order to protect the health and welfare of our employees and of course, you, our customers.

Yours sincerely
