Camden Housing Charity Funding Boost

Funding boost for Camden housing charity

A Camden based housing charity that has spent over 45 years supporting local people in need has received a funding boost – thanks to one local home and live-in care provider.

The Camden Federation of Private Tenants first opened its doors in 1980. The organisation provides a voice for private tenants and acts as a mutual support group to help private renters and housing association residents come together to organise and campaign for their rights and improve their housing conditions.

Just recently, impressed by the level of support the charity provides local people, Bluebird Care awarded a £500 grant to the charity to ensure their invaluable work can continue.

Director of Bluebird Care Camden & Hampstead, George Morris, said:

“The work that the Camden Federation of Private Tenants does in our community is phenomenal.

The charity supports Camden’s private tenants by raising issues, promoting solutions and working in partnership with agencies – such as the council – for improved services and housing.

As a local provider of home and live-in care in the borough, we’re keen to support other local organisations that go above and beyond to support others.”

Bluebird Care Camden & Hampstead has an Outstanding rating with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – the national body that regulates and monitors social care providers. The rating was secured partly due to the ‘extra mile’ the organisation goes to organise community events and activities, and work with charitable organisations.

Nomsa Mudenda is Bluebird Care’s Register Care Manager in the London Borough of Camden. She said:

“We were delighted to provide a grant to the Camden Federation of Private Tenants. It’s just one of the ways this year we’re supporting what happens in our neighbourhood.

A strong voice for people living locally, the charity arranges meetings, events, and information stalls on issues relevant to tenants. Without them, many people in Camden would struggle to have their voices heard.”

The Camden Federation of Private Tenants’ varied membership also acts as a consultative body for local, regional and national tenant issues and they work with various groups and organisations to lobby and campaign for improvements in both the private rented and housing association sectors.

Robert Taylor is the charity’s manager. He added:

“We’re grateful to Bluebird Care for this very generous grant. We’ve heard so many good things about the incredible work they do in Camden to support some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents.

Their financial support means a lot to us, and we’re hoping our relationship will grow and develop in the years ahead.”
