SEND Nightclub for Adults with Learning Disabilities

Bluebird Care Burnham, Beaconsfield & Marlow was proud to host a pioneering SEND Nightclub for adults with learning disabilities at Wycombe Swan’s Old Town Hall, in partnership with Trafalgar Entertainment Trust.

The sold-out event welcomed 150 attendees for a vibrant evening of music, dancing and social connection, which provided an inclusive nightlife experience designed specifically for adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Accessible Nightclub

The event was created to give people who often face barriers to mainstream nightlife the chance to enjoy a night out in a safe, supportive environment.

Features included:

  • Adapted lighting
  • Lower sound levels
  • Fully accessible venue
  • Bluebird Care support staff

The result was a welcoming space where attendees could express themselves and enjoy a sense of community. Click here to watch the highlights.

What Attendees Told Us

We had some lovely feedback from guests, carers, parents, and volunteers alike:

  • J: "I've been waiting all week for this. I’ve had a great time - I love the music, the lights and dancing with my friends.”
  • J's parents: “We’re amazed he felt comfortable enough to join in with the dancing and singing. He hasn't experienced anything like this before.”

  • P: “I loved getting dressed up and having my face painted.”

  • C: “The DJ was so fun. I loved the music and the limbo.”

  • R: “I liked the hats and wigs and being with my friends.”

  • Volunteer: "What a joy to see our members having the opportunity to take part in a nightclub experience."

  • D: “My feet hurt!” (due to non‑stop dancing)

  • High Wycombe Gateway Club: "C liked the silver wig so much she refused to hand it back at the end of the evening, sorry! We hope we can work with you again in the future. This was an amazing opportunity for our members to experience what a nightclub is like - they rarely get the chance. A huge thank you from everyone at Gateway Club.”
