With the Coronavirus crisis highlighting the crucial role that paid and unpaid carers play in keeping people safe and well, we’re recognising the efforts of caregivers everywhere.

In the midst of the current pandemic, the importance of care workers and family carers has become a big talking point. Caring is a role that is often undervalued, but the Coronavirus crisis has demonstrated the crucial part all carers play in supporting and protecting the most vulnerable people in our communities. Now more than ever, it’s time to appreciate their hard work and dedication.

Celebrating community spirit

As well as bringing the value of carers to the fore, the Covid outbreak has also highlighted how many people in our communities are in need of extra assistance. Self-isolation and social distancing measures have made life especially challenging for many, particularly those who live with debilitating medical conditions or who don’t have family nearby.

It’s been heartening to see individuals, care providers and community groups across the country step up to make sure older and vulnerable people are well supported. While no one knows what the future holds, it would be nice to think that that the proactive community response we’ve seen might create even more caring and inclusive neighbourhoods going forward.

If you’re one of the unpaid heroes looking after friends, relatives or neighbours, thank you for the invaluable contribution you’re making. And if you’re one of the many professional carers out there on the frontline, thank you for the incredible effort and commitment you demonstrate every day.

How we’re keeping people safe during the Coronavirus outbreak

Ensuring our Care Assistants and customers are safe has always been at the heart of what we do, but it has obviously become more crucial and complex in recent months. That being said, as a health and social care provider, managing a crisis is something we’re always well prepared for.

Our team has adapted and responded as the Covid crisis has evolved, working closely with Health Authorities and Care Regulators as well as constantly monitoring developments and reviewing protocols. We continue to ensure our carers and customers are all aware of any new safety practices and are as well-protected as possible.
