"Since I started working with Bluebird Care, I had a good feeling about the place, I just felt like I fit in." - Katie FitzHenry

We love to celebrate the amazing staff of Bluebird Care Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset, and we are incredibly fortunate to have many gems that make the company thrive. Today we celebrate our Quality Manager, Katie FitzHenry!

Katie has been with the company since November 2018, joining as a Care Supervisor, promoting her way up the ranks to Lead Care Supervisor and recently Quality Manager.

As Quality Manager, Katie's new role is to oversee everything to do with compliance across the Bluebird Care Bristol & Bath branches; this includes safeguarding, accidents & incidents, medication errors, analyzing trends, and even complaints and concerns.

I like to try and solve their issues and make things better for our customers, make a difference to peoples' lives."

Katie has always had a passion for healthcare, and before joining Bluebird Care, she was an Assistant Manager for the National Autistic Society, where she began her care journey at sixteen years of age.

I've always wanted to help people, and after college, I started working on a playscheme which involved volunteering with young adults with learning difficulties by North Somerset Council. I just fell in love with healthcare; that's why I decided to join Bluebird Care."

Katie has always maintained a strong relationship with our field-based carers. Her role has always been pivotal to keeping the communication stream open between field and office.

It can be difficult managing others when on the field and not in the same environment, but it's rewarding. I build that relationship right from the start; I support them and aim to gain their trust so they can confidently talk to me about any issues."

Currently studying for her Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Management within the company, Katie is always eager to learn more within her role and is always looking to progress within the company.

I appreciate the opportunity to progress and learn more in the role. I always know that I can speak to our Registered Care Manager Claire and vice versa whenever they need me - It's great to get that support from your manager."

So, what is it like working for Bluebird Care Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset?

"Not only do I feel supported by Claire, but I also feel valued by Managing Director Tim, and he's generous when it comes to investing in employees' happiness - You can tell he really cares about the team."
