Bluebird Care Bristol has been shortlisted as a finalist for ‘The Care Employer of the Year’ category in the South West Region Great British Care Awards.

Bluebird Care Bristol offer care services directly in their customers’ homes. Their visits cover a variety of highly individualised services, from personal care to companionship, home help, to trips into the community, and 24-hour Live-in Care.

The leading home care provider boasts an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission and are now being commended for their role as employers.

The business puts a positive care culture at the forefront of its priorities when delivering care. Employees are regularly rewarded with extra annual leave on birthdays, team building days, an annual funfair day, and even ‘Ice Cream Wednesdays’ when the weather allows.

The care sector can be a challenging environment to work in, as demonstrated during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Bluebird Care Bristol prioritises the mental health of its staff, with four qualified mental health first aiders in the office and among the team. Regular meetings, extra support and counselling are also available via partnerships with Perkbox and WPA.

The culture at Bluebird Care Bristol has enabled their employees to develop their skills and increase the quality of service on offer to customers. Care Assistants send out anonymous customer feedback forms, gain evidence on their performance, and review what can be improved. One of the two Registered Managers for Bluebird Care Bristol Claire Nolan also operates a diploma apprenticeship-style scheme, upskilling their Care Assistants and encouraging long-term careers in the industry. As a result, customers benefit from increasingly personalised care plans of a consistently high standard.

Bluebird Care Bristol will discover if they have been successful at the South West Regional final which is set to take place on 5th November 2021 at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol.

Speaking of the support the home care provider offers, Managing Director Tim Rowland-Jones, said:

"At Bluebird Care Bristol, we recognise that we are only going to be as good as the staff we employ. They are the lifeblood of our business, and therefore, we want to ensure we not only attract the right individuals; we also want to retain them.

We aim to be the best employer we can be and, that is why investing in training and support, rewarding great staff, as well as offering and encouraging career opportunities in this sector is the key to our success."

Claire Nolan and Louise Taylor, Registered Managers at Bluebird Care Bristol, said:

We are delighted that we have been acknowledged as finalists for ‘The Care Employer of the Year’ Award in the South West Region. We have a highly skilled, motivated, and hard-working team of Care Assistants and staff, deserving of employers who do right by them.
