My Care Journey - Becky Dixon

Published: 13/07/2022

We want show that there is a career ladder in care work and there are lots of opportunities for progression. We have created a new feature called "My Care Journey" - first up is Becky!

Our Deputy Manager, Becky Dixon, is a prime example of this. Becky started her life with us here at Bluebird care as a Care Assistant and has progressed all the way to Deputy Manager! We are  very proud of the progress she has made and want to share her story on how she has developed here at Bluebird Care.

In September 2016, Becky came to the Bluebird Care office in Colchester to interview for the role of care assistant. Our recruitment manager at the time loved her enthusiasm and her passion for care – attributes we knew would make her flourish in our care team. After her a glowing interview, Becky was given the role and so her journey with us began.

After three successful years as a Care Assistant, Becky had gained a lot of care experience and was becoming more and more confident in her role. It was clear she was a great at communicator and that she was ready for more responsibility. So, in 2019 Krissy promoted her to “Care and Support”.

2020 was a year where we had more changes in our team – including our then Supervisor, Kim, who recieved the wonderful news that she was pregnant. This meant the Supervisor role was up for grabs and Becky put her name forward. Here at Bluebird Care, we prefer to promote from within for roles like Supervisors, as we want someone in the role who knows the customers, who knows the way we work and understands what it takes to be a care assistant with us. As Supervisor, it is up to you set the standard and be an example to the care team and Becky certainly ticked all those boxes. Becky joined the team in the Colchester office and has been a large presence ever since!

Finally, earlier this year a position became available to have more responsibility – as a Deputy Manager. This role was created to support the Braintree branch, the role allows Becky to be more involved in the day to day running of the business. We are all incredibly proud of the journey Becky has been on – she is an integral part of the team and a bubbly character in the office.

She has made a lot of progress in her six years here at Bluebird Care. Her journey shows what can be achieved with hard work and good work ethic. We have opportunities to progress – so keep an eye out on our careers page and when the opportunity arises, we would love to see as many current Bluebirds apply for our roles.
