Rapid Response Team - Tendring

Published: 16/05/2022

We have assembled a new Rapid Response Team to provide care in Tendring. We wanted to share how our Rapid Response Team came about and what care it provides.

We are delighted to announce our new Rapid Response team have started their work in Tendring.  We have recruited a completely new team which we have built as we continue to help local St Helena Hospice's to provide end-of-life care for their patients.

The first Rapid Response team was inducted to help free up as many hospital beds to help during the Covid-19 pandemic. The hospice required our support to care for patients who were in the last stages of their lives to be supported in the comfortof their own home. The demand for these teams has increased since and we are delighted to see our third team assisting those who live in the Tendring area.

Our services ranges from 30 minutes to one hour of providing personal care. This includes making sure the customer feels comfortable and our care expands to also comforting the family and friends who visit. These visits carry on until the patient has passed away and we will be there to help keep them comfortable until that time comes.

We have recruited a complete team that is needed for this sensitive and important role. This care is vital work for the hospice and the community it serves. As such, our recruitment team has been very specific on who they choose for this team, looking for specific characteristics to be one of our Palliative Care Assistants. Once recruited, our Training and Development Manager took them through extensive training to make sure they are fully ready for the role. With a mix of training based in our training rooms and remote learning. Our online training modules allow our applicants to complete their training at their own schedule – but there is still a need for face-to-face training and our Training & Development Manager, Sue – makes sure they left her training room full prepared for the role.

We are very proud that Bluebird Care has been selected to carry out provide this care for the Tendring community. And we want to thank all of our Palliative who are out there providing vital care in the community.
